On the day this fish was created, I just knew I had to paint a fish and I started with the standard ellipse shaped style, thinking it was just going to be about color and as I started painting it began to paint itself.
The wondrous ( and sometimes annoying) thing about true intuitive painting is that you usually never see the end piece only a tentative idea and it doesn't present itself, it unfolds as you paint.
The ellipse turned into a square almost and the colour change aspect felt like a requirement.
After finishing I thought it look the weirdest thing, but that was ok, I like my style to be different from the rest, and made the Instagram post about it being a lesson on perspective and how 2 people looking at the same thing can see something completely different depending on where they stand on something.
This case, the fish changes from red to a Gold depending on where they stand on the floor, but feelings and rigid pre conceived ideas, social circles and education also change the way we see things and the way we are; Like the fish, I will come to learn, humans are mostly are products of their environment.
a week later, sorting through old magazines ripping out pages and pictures for shapes and colours and I almost fell out of my chair!
Meet the Rhinopias!
link to wiki page in picture. It is a member of the scorpion fish family and is square! and changes colour!
who knew?!
Anyway, this is the magic of intuitive art and it excited me in untold ways. To see even small pieces of magic manifest like this, reminds you there is something greater.
